If Redux is a continuation of the old RP Splendorocity, do I need to read up on Splendorocity to join?

Nope! You don't need to have any previous knowledge of Splendorocity or have played there. Quite a few things have changed, so previous knowledge of the world is not required in the slightest.

If you are a former Splendorocity player: If you played at Splendorocity before it closed, you can apply as a character you played before with their old Splendorocity memories intact. Just note that the city of Splendor is no more, and that this new city looks very different than it used to, so they might not catch on to where they are right away. However, they might find their new environment feels a little...familiar. They also might recognize old NPCs.

How did my character get here?

Your character will literally be at home one second and in the city the next. Seriously. No fainting, no passing out, no dream adventures; they just suddenly turn and they're in an entirely different area. This may be awkward for some characters, since people may be pulled getting dressed in the morning. Or showering. Or mid make-out. Or other awkward things. You get the idea.

Dead characters will arrive directly after their death. They'll just die and then wake back up in the city.

Where do characters arrive in the city?

Characters arrive in the city's train station.

What can my character bring from home?

Whatever they have on them at the time of their arrival in the city.

Pets are allowed only if they are not an established canon character that someone else might want to apply as.

Are weapons/powers allowed?

Weapons are allowed if they are on your character when they disappeared from their world. Powers are also allowed, though both powers and weapons may be nerfed depending on their strength and abilities. We don't want any serious destruction or anything that could seriously manipulate other characters.

There will be a section in the application to list your character's weapons/abilities, and the mods will let you know if any restrictions will apply once you are accepted.

Is there a communication network in the city?

There is, but players don't arrive with the communication device. They're scattered on tables throughout the train station, so a character will have to pick one up to have one. They're not hidden by any means, but if some characters opt not to have a communication device, they don't have to.

Despite the rather older feel to the city, the devices appear rather high tech, but run without any internal wiring or electricity of any kind. They are sleek, black bracelets about two inches wide. You are able to call, text, and send video messages from it wrapped around your wrist, or you can remove it and flatten it out.

There is a built in directory of every person that arrives in the city which updates the moment a new person arrives.

There is also a button to toggle a small holographic screen above the bracelets should a character want more space to view or type. There is a city map that can also be projected this way, which will show where the wearer of the bracelet is on the map.

Characters will not know who is contacting them the first time they interact with someone over the communication device. Much like a cell phone, there will be a random number instead of a name. Once the characters introduce themselves, the name they give will be registered in each other's communication devices.

My character can't talk/speaks a different language. How will they interact with others?
All characters will speak the same language in the city. They will still know their native tongue, but will be able to understand everyone else as well.

As for mute characters, the communication device can project text from the bracelet, so if they want to speak face to face with someone, that is an option.

How will my character provide for themselves in the way of food or shelter?

Housing will be assigned to your character once they are accepted into the game. They will receive a key in their pocket once they arrive with the address of their housing carved into the key. They are free to switch houses, though they will not receive another key. Please let a mod know if you wish to swap your character's housing.

Food and all other supplies are free and can be found in the Residential district and Commercial district.

Who are the NPCs?

The NPCs are the city's locals. There are only a handful of them left, so they will be sparse. Each NPC is played by a mod. You can find more information about the NPCs on the NPC page.

Is canon updating a character allowed?

You betcha! There's nothing fancy about doing it, either. You can have them disappear for a day or just have them suddenly be canon updated.

Please post a notice in the OOC community if you are canon updating a character.
What type of character can I play?

Please visit the rules page to see the restrictions on characters.

Can my character have past RP memories?

Yes, but you will have to provide details about your character's experiences and any personality changes they may have caused.

Can I use a PB for my character?

If you have a shortage of available icons for your character, you can use a PB. However, if your PB isn't a real person and is drawn, the art must either be entirely original or used with permission from the artist that drew it.

You cannot use an existing fandom character as a PB. You also cannot use a PB if another character is already using that PB.

Are there activity requirements for the game?

Yes. Please see the rules page for activity requirements and information about hiatuses.

Are application challenges allowed?

No, applications and reserves cannot be challenged. If a character you want to app is reserved or an application is already sent in, you must wait for the reserve to fall through or the application to be rejected.

What's the post format for the communities?

The main community can be text, voice, action, or video. The log community is reserved strictly for logs.

When making a post, please list in the subject header what the format is. People who reply are asked to stay in a similar format - meaning no log replies in text/action/video/voice posts, and none of those formats in log posts.

When making a log post, please use the following format:

Is there a tagging format for posts?

YES. And tags are required for every post. Each person is responsible for tagging any post their character threads in OR makes.

Please tag posts with your character's first and last name in western format. In other words, first name last name.
